Tasman Venture

Tasman Venture is an award winning, ecotourism specialist based out of Hervey Bay on Queensland’s stunning Fraser Coast.  Tasman Venture offers a variety of experiences including whale watching tours, their Remote Fraser Island experience, Remote Fraser Island and swim with whale full day experience as well as extended, offshore fishing charters.

We have been fortunate to work with the Tasman Venture team on an ongoing basis, looking after all their marketing and trade distribution strategy requirements.

Tasman Venture began working with DR Tourism in January 2015, to support the growth and development of our trade distribution channels, domestically, internationally and online. Additionally we were seeking support with increasing our brand awareness through media opportunities and social media.

Danielle and Robbie bring a wealth of industry knowledge and experience of the Fraser Coast, at a regional, state, national and international level. Thanks to DR Tourism’s dedication and knowledge, Tasman Venture has seen a rapid increase in our social media presence and engagement, leading to an increase in our online sales as compared with 2014.

DR Tourism has also acquired new trade contracts in addition to strengthening relationships with existing contracts, which has provided a strong increase in international and domestic trade bookings.

Our Challenge

Our priority was to work with the Tasman Venture team to further develop their Remote Fraser Island touring experience, and to increase the overall occupancy and profitability of this tour.  On top of this, we needed to work with the Tasman Venture team to create and implement an effective marketing and trade distribution strategy to boost occupancy on all their tour offerings, to boost overall revenue and subsequently, increase the profitability of the business.


The Process

We designed and implemented an intensive domestic and international marketing strategy with a key focus on trade distribution and social media engagement.  Key elements of this process included the complete rebranding of the business, the development of a new website, the attendance and representation of Tasman Venture at key trade shows domestically and internationally, and a strong focus was placed on experience development through strong consultation with key stakeholders such as the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service

The Outcome

Tasman Venture’s business has grown from strength to strength.  Since contracting DR Tourism, they have purchased an additional vessel to cater for increased demand, and they now offer the Remote Fraser Island Experience all year round as opposed to only 5 months of the year.  Tasman Venture’s social media following has increased by over 700%, occupancy on the Remote Fraser Island tour has increased by over 105%, and total revenue and profitability has increased substantially for the business.
